IGP directed to transfer Ragala OIC

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has directed IGP Indra de Silva to transfer the OIC of Ragala Police Station Ajith Dharmapala and appoint a suitable OIC in his place considering the complaint made by ASP C.A. Edirsinghe against Mr. Dharmapala stating that he is indulging in partisan politics.

The President in a letter addressed to the IGP has said Mr. Dahrmapala who has served in this station for over 6 years should be transferred out if people in the Ragala area are to exercise their votes in a free and peaceful manner at the forthcoming election.

A press release issued by the Presidential Media Unit said ASP C.A. Edirsinghe in a three page letter addressed to the President had complained that Mr. Dharmapala is acting in a manner favourable to the UNF. Copies of this complaint has also been sent by him to the Chairman, Police Commission and the Elections Commissioner.
