Indices up Increased demand for Blue-chips though in small volumes and increased trading of 2,725 shares of Bukit Darah at higher prices moved up the indices at the Colombo Bourse yesterday. Buying interests in Bluechip shares could also expected in the coming days. The All Share Price Index increased to 1,408.52 points from 1,338.79 points on Tuesday. The Milanka Price Index bounced to 1,951.02 points compared to 1,948.04 the precious day. Turnover spiralled to Rs 107,919,315 from Rs 105,192,894. SLT, Richard Pieris, NDB Bank, Distilleries and Seylan Bank (Non Voting) were the highest contributors. Domestic purchases were Rs 1,775 million and foreign purchases Rs 83 million. The day's top five gainers were Indo Malay, Bukit Darah, Tea Smallholder, Selinsing and Malwatte. Central Finance and Hayleys announced 12.5 second interim and 17.5 interim (tax free) dividends. |
