Norwegian Ambassador, WB Country Director meet Thamilselvam Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brattskar and World Bank Country Director Peter Harrold yesterday met LTTE Political Chief Tamilselvam for talks on the arrangements for the forthcoming elections and the humanitarian assistance to the North & East. The LTTE official web site (www.lttepeacesecretariat.com) said the discussions were centred on the modalities for the setting up of a mechanism to deliver immediate humanitarian assistance for the North-East and the arrangements to ensure franchise of the voters in uncleared areas. "The outlines of an effective mechanism for delivery of assistance were discussed at length with inputs from the Head of the LTTE Planning and Development Secretariat Mr. Thuyavan and Mr. Irenius Selvin, Director, SIHRN," the web site said. It also said the Norwegian Ambassador paid his attention to the political situation and the arrangements in place for the people in the Vanni to exercise their franchise at the forthcoming General Elections. "We had a very good discussion, and on humanitarian and development needs of North and East. We also had discussions on the political situation," the pro-LTTE Tamilnet quoted Ambassador Brattskar as saying after the meeting. |
