Weerahennadi alleging that Minister S.B. Dissanayake abused and threatened him when he came to assume duties in his new post. According to Weerahennadi's complaint to the IGP, the Minister had allegedly abused and threatened him inside his ministry office. Thereafter Ministry Acting Director Ranjan Dharmawardena had asked Weerahennadi to leave the office. According to Weerahennadi's complaint, the minister had allegedly told him that he had entered the secretary's office in an irregular manner and that he should have asked Acting Secretary Dhanasena Hettiarachchi's permission before doing so. Weerahennadi had then pointed out that the acting secretary was not an appointee of the President. The Minister had stated that Weerahennadi should have assumed duties before the Minister to which Weerahennadi had said that Ministry Secretaries are appointed by the President. Weerahennadi had also asked the IGP to provide him with security in this situation and sent a copy of his complaint to the Secretary to the President W.J.S. Karunaratne. |
