Develop North-East sacred places: Mahinda

Former Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakse recently called on the Viharadhipathi of Seruvila Mangala Raja Maha Viharaya Ven. Seruvila Saranakiththi Thera.

This is the first time a political leader visited Seruvila to worship this historic Raja Maha Vihara after 15 years.

Ven. Saranakiththi Thera told the Opposition Leader that to develop the country, national policies should be formulated for every sector. Rajapakse said the Freedom Alliance Government which will be formed on April 2, will formulate policies for the masses' welfare creating an environment for all nationalities to live harmoniously.

The Government and the private sector should extend their support to implement a program to preserve and develop the 262 sacred places in the North and East, he said.
