by Florence Wickramage The national commemoration of the World Water Day on March 22 will be held at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall jointly organised by the Housing and State Infrastructure Ministry, Irrigation and Water Management Ministry and the National Water Supply and Drainage Board. A special exhibition on 'Water and Natural Disasters' will be held on this day with the participation of Ministers Arumugam Thondaman and Gamini Jayawickreme Perera, Ministry Secretaries, officials and invitees. National Water Supply and Drainage Board officials and employees who have 20 to 25 years service will be given Golden awards and certificates, at the ceremony. Awards will also be presented to winners of the islandwide schools essay, poster and group singing competitions organised for World Water Day. Selected best offices, work-sites, rural water supply and community centres will be given victory awards. |
