The Minister of Women's Affairs, Amara Piyaseeli Ratnayake said in Wariyapola that our hope and ambition is to see a united and peaceful Sri Lanka where people can live in any part of the country in harmony. When I went to Jaffna recently I saw the Tamil youth and elders in the Jaffna Peninsula. Today their life is normal. All shops and government offices are functioning smoothly. Today our government has opened the Jaffna library. Our government has provided financial assistance to females of low income families for higher education. The Seva Vanitha Movement is a government sponsored. N.G.O. functioning under the direction of the Ministry of Women's Affairs. Seva Vanitha has also organised religious festivals for ethnic harmony, and launched programmes for the welfare of women prisoners. Minister of Irrigation and Water Management, Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said people in the NWP should reject the alliance at the forthcoming general election and asked the people of Sathkorale to vote the UNF to power. He said further that the NWP wants to bring a change to the country and also its aims to bring all communities together and build a united Sri Lanka. The minority communities of Sri Lanka have placed their trust in the UNF and have assured of their support to the UNF at the forthcoming general election. He urged the people of NWP to vote for the UNF to bring peace to the country. |
