The event hosted by Qatar Airways is being co-ordinated by the World Travel and Tourism Council. Over 700 CEOs and Presidents of leading world travel and airline companies would attend this event. According to Qatar Airways Country Manager, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Danny Schepers Sri Lankan officials too could attend this event. "This is a venue where important decisions makers in the airline world and tourism industry gather. The theme 'Driving Change', the fourth Global Travel and Tourism Summit offers the opportunity to shape the future of the largest industry on earth, employing 200 million people and accounting for 10 per cent of GDP worldwide. "This event would be an ideal opportunity for Sri Lankan companies to market their hotels and find new partners," Schepers said. With Sri Lanka's tourist season coming to an end this event would be an ideal venue to meet leading travel agents and sell local hotels for the next season. "Sri Lanka can also promote their products in the Gulf," he said. Chairmen and CEOs of the world's most prominent Travel and Tourism businesses, the world's leading travel and business journalists and senior government officials will meet at the Sheraton Doha from May 1 to 3 to discuss the future of the industry in a series of highly interactive panel discussions.
