President addresses business community: Freedom Alliance, a caring Govt in a global economy By Shirajiv Sirimane President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga addressing the business
community at President's House last night, said the United People's
Alliance would be a caring government in a globalised economy. While,
strong support will be given to Small and Medium sector entrepreneurs,
large scale foreign investment will be encouraged. Better income for farmers - PM by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi reporting from Polonnaruwa Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday stressed his Government
will ensure a better income for the paddy farmer, by giving a certified
price for the paddy in every season. "The basic policy of the United
National Front Government is to safeguard the income of the farmer. We
have always done so on behalf of the farming community, "the Premier
told several election rallies held in Medirigiriya, Hingurakkoda,
