Offensive posters: Six in custody

by Asanga Warnakulasuriya

Six men pasting scurrilous posters against a Buddhist monk contesting the election were apprehended by Maradana police on Wednesday night.

Investigations revealed that two UNP supporters and a Peradeniya campus student were among the suspects.

Police also found several bundles of posters about a new tabloid newspaper which slings mud at Freedom Alliance candidates.

The suspects were remanded after being produced before court yesterday.
