Sri Lanka Insurance nets over Rs 3 billion annual premium income

With the transformation in the Corporate Insurance Industry in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI), the successor to the State owned Insurance Corporation of Sri Lanka has consolidated its strength as the number one Corporate Insurer in Sri Lanka with an annual premium income of over Rs 3 billion from corporate accounts, with businesses ranging from Blue-chip companies to large and medium scale corporates to Project Insurances.

Not undermining the fact that SLI has paid the highest claim ever in Sri Lanka of Rs 22 billion and still stands high as the Financial Giant in the Insurance Market.

As a part of its restructuring, SLI has formed a Corporate Business Division (CBD) to cater to all needs of its corporate clients. CBD is geared to assess the insurance needs of the high net-worth corporate clients with a high standard of service with experienced key-account managers providing a host of benefits through a wide range of services to enhance their insurance portfolio.

CBD also takes the extra step to enlighten the corporate clientele in analysing and managing risks through a comprehensive portfolio study which results in the Corporate being insured by a customised Insurance plan, thereby minimising the risk factor and giving value to their investment.

CBD is headed by Chaminda De Silva, a young, versatile marketer with more than 10 years of corporate insurance experience and well recognised for his know-how in the Corporate Insurance field and in handding the large scale infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka.

The newly established Broker Relationship Unit at CBD enhances its relationship with the brokers in turn, strengthening the relationship between the client, the broker and the Insurer to better serve the client.

Based at SLI's head office 'Rakshana Mandiraya', CBD will be supported by a state-of-the-art Information Technology initiatives and a modern working environment to give this unit the edge in terms of speed and efficiency which includes the technical backing from ING/IGA one of the world's largest asset management companies and supported by a well-experienced underwriting team.
