The International Run for Peace will be conducted in two stages - in Colombo on February 19, 2005 and in Vavuniya on February 26, 2005. It has been organised to bring about friendship and understanding between the Sinhala and Tamil communities of Sri Lanka.

In addition to the local runners 400 competitors from Europe and 100 runners from Japan and China wiil also take part.

The run is being organised by the Asian German Sports Exchange Programme in collaboration with the Amateur Athletic Association of Sri Lanka.
