United National Front is not strong enough to defeat Freedom Alliance at the forthcoming general election. The Freedom Alliance will form a stable government, said former Minister and Ratnapura District MP, Pavithra Wanniarachchi at a SLFP leadership seminar at Vilhena, Pelmadulla. All Left and Socialist parties have now joined with Freedom Alliance to form a stable government under the leadership of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga which would fight corruption, inefficiency and other ills ensuring peace and prosperity to the country, said Pavithra Wanniarachchi. During the previous PA government concrete action was taken to fulfil the aspirations of the ordinary people but the UNF government paid only lip service to public grievances. She said that the government has broken all the promises given to the people. Instead it had sold the countrie's national assets while the ministers were resorting to corruption and malpractices amounting to billions of rupees. This is a government of looters. The looting of public property is a great crime, said Pavithra Wanniarachchi. The economy, education, culture and unity has deteriorated during the past two years of UNF rule. Dharmadasa Wanniarachchi, Ratnapura District former MP said the masses have been given an opportunity by President Chandrika Bandaranaike to elect a government devoid of corruption and irregularities and seek permanent and ever lasting peace for the country. Ratnapura District PA, former MP, Heenmahathmaya Liyanage said the President has made the right decision in dissolving Parliament giving the people the opportunity to elect a stable government. |
