The country was in a major civil war situation for the past 20 years, but Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe signed a MoU with the LTTE and kept the country free from fear and harassment. There were no checkpoints, or hindrances to the general public. The public walked on the streets and roads without fear and almost all were happy. What the country needed was peace among all communities. Jegadeeswaran said that at the last general election there was a chance for CWC to add one more representatives to Parliament.
