Freedom Alliance will provide requirements of the poor to live a decent life - former MP Anura Bandaranaike

by Attanagalla special correspondent, Jayaweera Sugathapala

The victory of the Freedom Alliance will lead the country to a new era, that provides the requirements of the poor to live a decent life, said Presidential Advisor and the leader of the Freedom Alliance candidates for the Gampaha district Anura Bandaranaike.

He was addressing Freedom Alliance activists in the Attanagalla electorate at a meeting held at 'SANASA' auditorium, Veyangoda on Tuesday.

Commenting on what made the SLFP form an Alliance with the JVP Bandaranaike said that Ranil Wickremesinghe government had no concern whatsoever for the country's poor masses.

The cost of living has skyrocketed. Corruption and lawlessness began ruling. Farmer subsidies were curtailed. Justice and culture degenerated.

All in all the country began going to the dogs. The country was asking for an election. That is why we formed the Alliance and decided to go to polls, he said.

Referring to the recent remark by Minister S. B. Dissanayake that the Sinhala New Year will be celebrated not from the seat of Prime Minister, but with Ranil Wickremesinghe on the chair of the President, Anura Bandaranaike said that statements of this nature raise doubt of a conspiracy to cause physical harm to President Chandrika Bandaranaike.

The masses will come forward to protect the President at the risk of their own lives, he said.He called upon the people to defeat the corrupt UNF government and to bring the Freedom Alliance to power to create a prosperous country under the leadership of the President.

Former Minister Lakshaman Jayakody said that the majority of people would rally round to support the Freedom Alliance to form a stable government at the forthcoming election.

Gampaha district Freedom Alliance candidates Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Sanjaya Siriwardena, Wennappuwa organiser Yusus Peris and E. D. Dharmasena also spoke.

Attanagalla PS member Asoka Weerakkody delivered the welcome speech.
