Anandasangaree has stated that he would battle against any odds to restore freedom and democracy for his people in the North and East. It is the duty of brave men that they should sacrifice their lives for the well-being of their fellowmen, the veteran politician observed urging the Tamil community in the North and East to vote for freedom and democracy at the upcoming General Election. Anandasangaree states that he would never bow down to the racists or racialism. "I have fought for peace and democracy for the last fifty years and it is the only way to relieve the pain of the Tamil community". "Since the 'Sathyagraha' in 1961 he had stood for the rights of the Tamil community and never worked for personal gain or self benefit. I am firmly committed to protecting the democratic rights of the Tamil community". "The Tamil community in the North and East need peace and they must have the right to live in a free environment where they can exercise their free expression. I never objected to the ongoing peace process I am for peace and not for war," he stated. The Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) is the main Tamil political party with its noble policies and principles, laid down by late leaders S.J.V. Chelvanayakam, G.G. Ponnambalam and A. Amirthalingam. "We have decided to contest for the Jaffna district as an independent group for the forthcoming General Election on April 2 to restore peace and democracy". Although they could not contest on their own symbol the "the rising sun" would never fade away and it would re-emerge through the dark bestowing peace and prosperity to the Tamil community in the North and East. |
