In Sri Lanka, several areas of the dry zone, as Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa in the North Central Province, Maha Oya in the Eastern Province, and Wellawaya and Embilipitiya in the Southern Province have high Fluoride concentrations in the ground water.

The College of Community Dentistry of Sri Lanka, has organised the 4th workshop in Sri Lanka, and is scheduled to be held from 2 to 6 March, at Hotel Galadari, states a release by the college.

The planned workshop will bring together specialist Dental Surgeons, Environmental Scientists, Geologists, and Behavioural Scientists from different parts of the globe and will create a forum, for professional interaction, to share their experiences about ways and means of finding a solution to the problem. About 30 scientific papers from about 20 countries had already been accepted to be presented at the Workshop.

A field program has been arranged for the participants to observe the implementation of De Fluoridation projects in rural parts of the country.

The National Organising Committee is chaired by Dr. K.D.G. Saparamadu, and the Scientific Program has been drawn up by Dr. Siromani Abayaratne Professor Eli Dahi of Tanzinia chairs the International Organizing Committee.
