Trade delegation to visit AAMA-Tex 2004 exhibition in Singapore

The Sri Lanka Apparel Institute together with Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (Pvt) Ltd has organised a special trade delegation to visit AAMA-Tex 2004 exhibition in Singapore from March. This will be the sixth presentation in Singapore, that AAMA Tex will have this year.

A special tour package is being designed for visitors to see the exhibition. Sri Lanka heads the visitor list to AAMATEX and has become a dominant partner to the exhibition.

AAMA Tex 2004 will feature the latest and most sophisticated technology of garments and textile machinery from over 27 countries such as Japan, USA, China and Taiwan.

It will be the premier sales and marketing vehicle for exhibitors to reach out to many quality buyers and manufacturers at one location. Therefore it is a "must attend" event for all garment and textile professionals, Project Manager SLECS the official representative for AAMA Tex, Lilantha Jayaratne said.

Strong official support from China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea and Taiwan are expected. The objective is to apprise the apparel industry of the latest developments to facilitate improvement and greater productivity.

Because the key competition of the textile and garment industry in the future is the constant technological evolution with the gradual phasing out of Multifiber Arrangement(MFA) quotas, and the status quo changes to a buyer's market. Henceforth it will be important to enhance the share of the digitalised production through replacement of obsolete machinery and invest in new technology, Jayaratne said.

AAMA Tex from its inception in 1989 has played a vital role in the promotion of the latest technology from cutting to finishing and packing inclusive of apparel machines, garment equipment, laundry, chemical, needles, parts and accessories.

Over 300 visitors representing large and medium scale apparel exporters had visited the exhibition and gained vital information for future development in the apparel industry in Sri Lanka. (RK)
