UPFA, UNP campaigns begin today

The United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) will begin its General Election campaign from Anuradhapura today with President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga addressing the inaugural meeting.

Prior to the rally, the President together with Alliance leaders and members will participate in a pooja at the historic Jayasri Maha Bodhi.

The rally will also be addressed by UPFA leaders and Alliance members. Meanwhile, the United National Party will kick off its campaign with the Party's inaugural rally at Bogambara, Kandy.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will be the main speaker at the rally which will also be addressed by Ministers, MPs and other leading UNPers.
