CEO of LogicaCMG in Lanka for launch of Central Bank's RTGS/SSS System

Dr. Martin Read, Group CEO of LogicaCMG was in Sri Lanka recently for the launch of the Real Time Gross Settlement System and Scripless Securities Settlement System which was successfully implemented by LogicaCMG for the Central Bank.

The CBSL is now in a position to be competitive in the global market and attract more international investments. All commercial Banks in Sri Lanka are direct participants in the LogicaCMG developed systems, thereby bringing immense benefits to customers and primary dealers.

The overall system will enable banks and financial institutions to make secure, high value, inter-bank payments virtually instantaneously across the country and also settle government securities in real-time.

Dr. Read who had been leading Logica since 1993, was named Computing magazine's IT Personality of the Year in 1996. He became Group Chief Executive of LogicaCMG following Logica's merger with CMG at the end of 2002. His visit to Sri Lanka is seen as an endorsement of LogicaCMG's commitment to developing its activities in the country.

During his visit Dr. Read also met Manju Haththotuwa, CEO of the ICTA, for discussions on the country's IT initiative under the eSri Lanka program and conveyed the support of LogicaCMG in the development of information technology in Sri Lanka, backed by their extensive resources, experience and indepth knowledge in the eGovernment arena.

Haththotuwa in response also invited LogicaCMG to invest in Sri Lanka and set up operations here and that the ICTA will do all it can to support such an initiative.

LogicaCMG is represented in Sri Lanka by Just in Time Holdings, an established player in the Sri Lankan IT industry.

Just in Time Holdings contributed to the successful implementation and timely delivery of the Central Bank's RTGS/SSSS with their expertise in project management, provision of professional services and on-site support, which would continue during the seven-year maintenance agreement, signed with CBSL.
