SSC win Plate c'ship SSC beat Moors Sports Club by 103 runs in the final to emerge champions at the SLC Inter-Club Premier Division Plate championship concluded at Sara Stadium yesterday It was a great fight back by SSC after they lost on first innings by mere 13 runs. Having bowled out SSC for 220 runs on the first innings, Moors made 233 all out to win on the first innings on day two. But their joy was short lived as SSC bounced back to pull off a sensational outright win and with it the Plate championship title of the Inter-Club Premier league tournament, conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket. SSC started the third day yesterday at their overnight total of 112 for 3, with a lead of only 99 runs and seven second innings wickets in hand. Dashing Sri Lanka opener Avishka Gunawardena made 69 as SSC declared their second essay at 223 for 8. Set to make 210 to win in 74 overs, Moors did not look comfortable ever since they lost their first wicket. The Braybrooke Place team's batsmen were all at sea as they were shot out for 107 with Dinuk Hettiarachchi doing the most of the damage in a penetrative spell of 4 for 14. SSC wicket keeper Malintha Perera was in fine form behind the stumps, accounting for ten victims in the match eight catches and two stumpings. Chief scores: SSC: 220 all out and 223 for 8 decl.
