"Political parties in their manifestos should pledge to end the culture of deception. They should embark on a program to uplift the Buddha Sasana while ensuring an environment where all can live in harmony," the ACBC said in a statement. The statement also called on political parties to assert their commitment to end what it called the on-going "cultural invasion" and to appoint an independent think tank assigned to work out a media policy which respects the cultural heritage. It also urged the parties to pledge their commitment to protect national resources and uplift the living standard of the general public. "We urge the political parties to outline their solutions to the prevailing socio-economic problems during the election campaign while restraining themselves from violence," the ACBC said in the statement. |
