Indian youth held with four kilos heroin at BIA

by Sarath Malalasekera

The Customs Narcotics Control Unit (CNCU) arrested an Indian youth at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Saturday with four kilos heroin, concealed in a false bottom and false lid of his personal baggage.

The contraband was valued over Rs. 10 million.

Investigations directed by Customs Narcotics and Baggage Director S. Ramachandran revealed that the youth had visited Sri Lanka twice within the last two weeks.

The suspect had come to Sri Lanka from Bombay in UL flight 142 with his aged mother.

The suspect was handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations.

The detection by the Customs was the second of its kind within the last 24 hours.
