The Board of Directors of the Sri Lanka Telecom Ltd., decided to remove Chairman Thilanga Sumathipala from his post of Chairmanship on the ground that he was not in a position to discharge his day-to-day duties under his present condition. The meeting was chaired by Thilanga Sumathipala who participated from the paying ward of the Colombo National Hospital using modern telecom technology while co-partner and Chief Executive Officer S. Annan and three other Japanese Directors participated from Japan. Messrs N. Pathmanathan, Rose Cooray, Ananda Gunatilleke and K. C. Logeswaran participated from Sri Lanka. Thilanga Sumathipala has objected to the proposal saying that it was not properly formulated but the objection was over-ruled by the Board. It is learnt that K. C. Logeswaran is likely to be appointed as the new Chairman. |
