Rs. 65 m Lasik eye care treatment unit at Nawaloka Hospital

Investing Rs. 65 million, Nawaloka Hospital has set up an ultra modern Lasik eye care treatment unit ensuring advanced eye surgical treatment. This treatment is a medically advanced technique of laser vision correction and the procedures is computer-controlled, automated and quick.

It is almost painless and provides speedy, recovery, says Yi-Kheong Ng, Director, Refractive Asia of Baush and Lomb, which is the manufacturing company of this Zyoptix 100 machinery; recently installed at Nawaloka hospital.

Addressing a press briefing on Thursday, Yi-Kheong said that this method of vision correction has become very popular and widely accepted by people all over the world. It has advantages over other procedures, including a relative lack of post procefoune pain and good vision is normally achieved quickly.

According to Yi-Kheong, the new technology - Baush and Lomb Zyoptix 100, provides an advanced form of laser vision correction that ensures increased accuracy of treatment." It differs from previous laser technique as it is individually tailored to each eye giving a unique reading," he added.

Nawaloka hospital's Director cum General Manager Prof. Lal Chandrasena said, "We have pioneered in introducing advanced technology during the past 18 years and helped to change health-care in Sri Lanka," he added. Deputy Chairman/CEO Nawaloka Hospital Jayantha Dharmadasa was also present.
