News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | President tells PM: If Milinda Moragoda wants to resign, let him do so in writing President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe states that if Mr. Milinda Moragoda, wishes to resign from his portfolio, he may be advised to do so "by writing under his hand addressed to the President" as provided by Article 47 (b) of the Constitution, states a press release issued by the Presidential Secretariat. The President was replying to the Prime Minister's letter dated February 12, 2004 with a copy of the letter dated February 11, 2004 addressed to the Prime Minister by Mr. Milinda Moragoda, Minister of Economic Reform, Science and Technology. The President said once she received this communication, action can be taken to assign the Ministry of Economic Reform, Science and Technology to Mr. K. N. Choksy, Minister of Finance as recommended by the Prime Minister in his letter. |
