IDD calls from Tritel's public payphones Tritel Services (Pvt) Ltd., has reintroduced International Direct Dialling (IDD) across its 3,000 - strong payphone network, islandwide. The company launched this IDD facility as a value added service to widen the horizons of telecommunications to the masses, with a focus on the rural areas. To complement this new service, new tariffs are offered by Tritel, with calls to any part of the world costing Rs. 10. Only coins in the denominations of Rs 10 and Rs 5 may be used to make these calls, the company said. Robert Schuster, Chief Executive Officer Tritel said: "Our aim with this service is to make IDD calls affordable and available to everyone, specially those whose family members are working overseas." "This service will be most useful for those who need to give quick or urgent messages and who do not have a communication bureau nearby," Schuster said. "Tritel has installed payphones around the island, some in very remote areas where the Tritel payphone is the only source of public telecommunication facility available." He said: "We always strive to provide the masses with high quality telecommunications facilities with minimal downtime." |
