Colombo Conclave opens today

The Colombo Conclave, will be inaugurated at 5.45 pm today at the BMICH. INSOL of India, and BRIPASL of Sri Lanka will jointly host this gathering of professionals in the legal, Accounting, and other professional bodies to discuss wide ranging subjects of law and business to arrive at certain consensus views for implementation which in large part would be guiding pointers for future cooperation.

After months of preparation and discussions jointly conducted by both countries the working papers were formulated to involve leader level professionals for presentation and discourse of given subjects which would embody Restructuring and Liquidation and Asian Insolvency Regimes.

These are two of seven subjects which would attract inter change of ideas which, it is hoped would eventually lead to tangible interpretations for action as fittingly proper.

Ajit Nivard Cabraal, Co-Chairman, organising committee, Sri Lanka and A. S. Chandhiok, Co- Chairman, Organising Committee India, have caused this meeting point for professionals of India and Sri Lanka, in the Sri Lanka venue because of its strategic placing in international trade lanes and its growing importance as a global pivot point for future mutual trade benefits through cooperation and collective compromise.

Simultaneously, it was thought that with an Exclusive Economic Zone in the Indian Ocean of approximately 517,400 Km where exclusive rights in economic resources could be maintained the ocean water column would garner potential for trade and a compendium of commercial activity which would be beneficial for the South East Asian region as well.

The professional gathering, apart from the intense two-day discourse would also be exposed to the islands' attractions which are varied and diametrically contrasting.

INSOL India is an association of members of the legal fraternity, Chartered Accountants and other bodies involved in the advancement of Law, relating to insolvency and other allied fiscal interests.

BRIPASL Sri Lanka has been formed with the objective to promote and play a leadership role in restructuring industries with tactile alternatives for resuscitation and rejuvenation of ailing organisations.

The members include eminent legal experts, Chartered Accountants, Bankers and other professionals.
