Four Indian soldiers killed in Kashmir mine blast

SRINAGAR, India, Thursday (AFP) Four Indian soldiers were killed and seven injured Thursday when their army vehicle ran over a landmine planted by suspected rebels in Indian-administered Kashmir, an army spokesman said.

Some of those injured in the blast at Salar in the southern Anantnag district were in a serious condition, a police official said.

The attack came despite renewed hopes for peace in Kashmir after India and Pakistan, which both control sections of the Himalayan province, agreed to resume bilateral talks from February 16 to 18 in Islamabad.
