"We need your courage and support in the future. Rally round us to achieve your aspirations," Rajapakse said at Dodamgaslanda Palleyaya Sri Vidyaraja Maha Vidyalaya recently. The Opposition Leader distributed books, uniforms and other equipment to school pupils. Rajapakse said he has visited Dodamgaslanda electorate several times. "I know the people of Dodamgaslanda will join the Alliance which will work for the country's prosperity. We can prove to the masses that the country's problems can be solved in a matter of time," Rajapakse said. The Opposition Leader said there will be no division of the country. "It will be a united Sri Lanka comprising all communities and religions. We will join hands with all progressive forces to defeat the UNP in the future elections," he said. The SLFP-JVP Memorandum of Understanding is the first step to build a united Sri Lanka, he said."Some UNF supporters are trying to inject into the masses' minds that the SLFP-JVP Alliance will lead to disaster. This is not true, Rajapakse said. SLFP organiser and Wayamba Provincial Council member R. D. Wimaladasa said people should be united to work for the country's unity. Wayamba Provincial Council Minister of Sports and Youth Neranjan Wickramasinghe also spoke. |
