by Ariyaratne Ganegoda The Government is going ahead with plans to strengthen trade ties between Thailand and Sri Lanka. According to Government sources, a high powered trade and industry delegation, headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is due to leave the island this week, on a three-day tour to finalise bilateral agreements with Thailand. Before the Prime Minister's departure for Thailand, a team under Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake will formulate a trade agreement that will open the door for Sri Lanka to promote trading opportunities among ASEAN member countries, BOI sources said. During his stay in Thailand, the Prime Minister will brief Thai entrepreneurs about investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. |
