India-Nepal discuss how to halt Maoist rebels crossing border KATHMANDU, Tuesday (AFP) Indian and Nepali officials began talks stepping up efforts to stop Nepal's Maoist rebels from finding shelter in neighbouring India. Nepali officials say the rebels, have been seeking refuge in India and are transporting arms across the border to stage attacks against security and other targets in the kingdom. Home secretaries of the two neighbours also were slated to discuss how to end the illegal occupation of a 10-yard (meter) wide no man's strip of land along their mutual border where hundreds of settlers are carrying out illegal smuggling. |
