People's Writers' Front welcomes Alliance

The People's Writers' Front, one of the oldest cultural organisations representing writers, artists and intellectuals in the country, has welcomed the setting up of the United People's Freedom Alliance by the SLFP and the JVP and expressed its unstinted support to drive away the reactionary, capitalist and anti-people UNF Government which was the priority need of the hour.

The Front in a press release issued yesterday under the signatures of its President Prof. A. V. Suraweera and General Secretary Gunasena Vithana said it would call upon all other left parties to join the United Peoples Freedom Alliance which had dedicated itself to the cause of driving away the people's common enemy and setting up a truly peoples' government.

The front would also call upon the people to rally round the Alliance and help it in making its five basic principles a reality.
