Special Nawam Poya program

The Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Kandy Neranjan Wijayeratne chaired a meeting on January 28 at the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises, relating to the appeal made to the general public to donate a Crystal (Chuda Manikkya) to be placed on the Mega Stupa Kotmale Mahaweli Mahaseya.

Incidentally, this will be the largest stupa to be constructed in Sri Lanka after 1300 years. The height of the Stupa is 289 feet, which is lesser in height, by 2 feet to the Great Ruwanweli Mahaseya Stupa, Anuradhapura.

This meeting was attended by the officials of the Cental Engineering Consultancy Bureau and key personnel of the Police and Army of the Central Province.

The work is in progress at the Kotmale Mahaweli Mahaseya Project. A special Nawam Poya religious program will be held at the Mahaweli Mahaseya premises on February 5 which will be attended by the Anunayake of the Malwatta Chapter Ven. Ambanwelle Pannasekera Nayaka Thera.

Diyawadana Nilame Neranjan Wijayeratne, Minister of Irrigation and Water Management Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, number of Ministers, MPs, and Provincial Councillors of Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya District, Dr. A.N.S. Kulasinghe- Chairman of the Technical Committee and his members, H.B. Jayasekera- Chairman Cental Engineering Consultancy Bureau will also participate in this religious ceremony.

This Poya program will be broadcast live from the Kotmale Mahaweli Mahaseya premises, on Sirasa FM radio from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on February 5 Nawam Poya Day.
