Ven. Pothupitiye Pannasekera the Chief Incumbent of the Panadura Galgoda Srimahaviharaya delivering an Anusasana, paid tributes to the Panadura Magistrate G. S. Edirisinghe, the Registrar Mr. Karunatilleke and the Lawyers for introducing a new concept to the Court Complexes in the country. There was no such a Pirith Ceremony held at the Panadura Court Complex since its inception in 1949. The purpose of this religious ceremony was to transfer merit on late judges, lawyers and employees who worked in the court complex from 1949 to 2004 and wish all living beings in the country to live in peace and harmony. Ven. Pannasekera said, the Court Complex was a legal institution where the punishments were given to the persons who were found guilty of various offences, but today the Panadura court complex became a Buddhist shrine room where all lawyers, judges, employees and policemen became Upasaka mahatmayas to follow the teaching of Lord Buddha. These religious activities are necessary to make awareness of the Buddha Dhamma among the people to reduce crimes in the country. The all-night Pirith ceremony was concluded on Sunday morning offering Sanghika Dana to the Maha Sanga by the Panadura Magistrate G. S. Edirisinghe and the staff. |
