Lanka U-19 at full strength? by Chris Dhambarage The touring West Indies under 19 team will be hoping to produce an improved performance when they take on Sri Lanka under 19 in the second one day match at the CCC grounds, Maitland Crescent today. The visitors were comprehensively beaten by nine wickets in the first one day on Saturday after they had been bowled out for 106 runs in 37.3 overs. The Sri Lankan pace attack really played havoc with the West Indies top order with skipper Farveez Maharoof and Suraj Mohamed sharing seven wickets between them. The Lankans could be really pleased with their performances on the field even though they had rested three of their top players vice captain Ganganath Ratnayake, left arm spinner Sudeera de Soysa and paceman Angelo Matthews. All seem to have recovered from minor injuries and are set to make a return for the second game which would add more variety into their attack. The presence of Ganganath Ratnayake and Angelo Matthews will also strengthen the batting as they could contribute some useful runs in the late order batting. But Sri Lanka will be hoping for a good display from their top order comprising of Upul Tharanga, Damindu Kularatne, Nadeera Nawala, and Gihan de Silva. The former of course struck early form with an unbeaten 75 in the first one dayer played at the NCC grounds, last Saturday. But the rest of the batting did not have a chance to prove as Sri Lanka reached their target in just 21.2 overs.
