Thomians force a draw

Opener Navin Perera stroked an elegant 103 not out as S. Thomas' College fought back well to force a draw to their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school cricket match against St. Peter's College concluded at Mount Lavinia yesterday.

Navin Perera struck nine boundaries and added 164 runs for the unfinished second wicket along with Ashan Peiris who remained unbeaten on 65 having struck five boundaries. The Thomans finished at 204 for 1 in their second innings after having asked to follow on.

Earlier off spinner Shanaka Wickremasekera captured seven wickets for 15 runs to send S. Thomas' crashing to just 75 runs off 37 overs. He was well supported by the left arm spinner Shohan Boralessa as the Peterites took a good first innings lead of 147 runs.

St. Peter's: 222

S. Thomas': 75 (Ashan Peiris 28, Navin Perera 25, Shanaka Wickremasekera 7 for 15, Shohan Boralessa 2 for 18) and 204 for 1 (Navin Perera 103 n.o, Isuru Warnakulasuriya 24, Ashan Peiris 65 n.o.).

Easy for Isipatana

Paceman Tharaka Waduge took a match bag of ten wickets as Isipatana defeated St. Aloysius College Galle by ten wickets in their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school cricket match played at Havelock Park yesterday.

St. Aloysius: 99 and 124 (C. Issanka 34, V. Randhika 24, P. Chaturanga 22, T. Waduge 5 for 44, C. Wickremaratne 4 for 24).

Isipatana: 191 (G. Wijesinghe 32 n.o., P. Chaturanga 2 for 34) and 33 for no loss (T. Rajudeen 21 n.o.). C.D.

Royal win on first innings

Half centuries from Heshan Morawaka (87) and Navin Dias (51) helped Royal beat Richmond on the first innings in their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school cricket match played at Reid Avenue yesterday. Richmond: 219 (A. Maduranga 51, R. Ahmed 25, P. Wijepura 24, A. Damith 21, S. Udayakumara 20, D. Wijeratne 4 for 48, N. Punchihewa 3 for 40) and 34 for 2.

A superb knock of 108 by M. Umesh helped Royal Panadura beat Ananda Sastralaya on the first innings in their Elephant Lemonade Cup inter school cricket match played at Kotte yesterday.
