To resolve ethnic problem Participation of all political parties necessary

The National Patriotic Movement will announce its program envisioned to solving the country's national problem with the participation of all political parties in the country. It will hold the national conference on February 3 at the National Youth Services Council, Maharagama.

The Movement's founder and executive member Wimal Weerawansa said they had invited Ministers and MPs of the UNP, SLFP, JVP, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and Tamil political parties to attend the conference. The VVIPs' invited are Ambassadors, High Commissioners, professionals, legal luminaries, members of the clergy and others.

Addressing a press conference yesterday at the National Library Services Auditorium in Colombo, Weerawansa said the theme of the conference was "Freedom for the Land, and a Proud Nation."

The National Patriotic Movement will disclose its stand on various other issues affecting the nation with focus on the peace process, security, privatisation, and public transport, Weerawansa said.

He expressed optimism at arrive at a common understanding with other political parties to workout a plan to solve the ethnic question.

"It is necessary to have a clear plan, agreeable to all political parties to resolve the ethnic problem," he noted.

He said that arrangements had been made to familiarize a web site for the National Patriotic Movement, www.npm.sl.com. to coincide with the conference. The Movement plans to issue a magazine, called "Muragala" at this conference.
