Badureliya CC president on the mat? From Sa'adi Thawfeeq Disciplinary action is to be brought against the president of a member club of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for bringing the controlling body for the sport into disrepute. Thirty-seven member clubs and associations of SLC have sent a petition calling for an Emergency General Meeting to look into the misconduct of Sumith Perera, president of Badureliya CC. The member clubs and associations accuse Perera of damaging and tarnishing the image of SLC both locally and internationally by complaining to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on allegations of misappropriation in the SLC which led to a raid of the SLC headquarters by members of the CID recently. SLC sources said that if Perera had any grievances against SLC it should have been first reported to them or the Minister of Sports, failing which he could have taken suitable action. At an emergency executive committee meeting held on Monday, it was decided to refer the matter to the SLC disciplinary committee for appropriate action. |
