US one million from Asia Cup SLC hope to net in around one million US dollars when they host the next Asia Cup cricket tournament in Sri Lanka from July 15 to August 1 this year. SLC secretary Mohan de Silva said that they had received permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board to host the four-nation tournament which also features India and Bangladesh. "It was Pakistan's turn to host the tournament. But we were able to convince ACC members that in the event of a sudden pull out by India the tournament would be devalued. On those grounds, Sri Lanka were given the choice of hosting the tournament," said De Silva. The tournament will be conducted by the ACC which will bear all costs. SLC will receive participation fees and management fees for hosting the tournament which will amount to around one million US dollars. ST |
