Moratuwa SC in Sara Trophy final Moratuwa SC led by former St. Sebastian's College captain Primal Salgado has qualified to play in the P. Sara Trophy Division I final against Sinha SC on January 24 and 25 at the NCC grounds, Maitland Place. With the help of two sparkling centuries by Lakshan Perera and Romesh Fernando, they beat Anthonians SC in the quarter-final on their way to the semi-final. Suranga Thusara, Chanuska Hewawitharna, Mangala Jayasena, Vidara Abeywardena excelled in batting and all-round performances by captain Primal Salgado, coach-cum player Chamath Perera, Lushan Kuruppu and Dinesh Seneviratne helped to beat Negombo SC in the semi-final. Moratuwa SC won the coveted Sara Trophy in 2001-2002 season and its President Vernon de Mel has worked tirelessly to bring the team back again to the final this year.
