New Military Secretary Assumes duties Major General Egodawela RWP, RSP, USP, who has been appointed the new Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army, assumed duties after a brief ceremony in his office at the Army Headquarters, Colombo. Major Gen. Egodawele relinquishes his duties as 11 Division General Officer Commanding to take over this new appointment. Enlisted to the Army (Regular Force) as an Officer Cadet in 1971, he was commissioned into the Gemunu Watch in 1972. In 1990 he was appointed the Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch and he served as a Brigade Commander during the period 1994-1997 before he was appointed the Deputy General Officer Commanding in 54 Infantry Division deployed in northern Sri Lanka in April 1999. He became the General Officer Commanding in the same Division in the same year in December. In May 2000, he was appointed the General Officer commanding of 21 Infantry Division and the General Officer Commanding in the 11 Infantry Division in 2001. He has held a number of staff appointments at different Formation Headquarters and had been an Instructor at the Army Training Centre. He was later appointed the Commandant of the Infantry Training Centre in 1991. Major Gen. Egodawela, has held the appointments of Assistant Military Secretary (1995), Director, Personnel Administration (1997) and Military Secretary at Army Headquarters in 1998 respectively. |
