The College of Anaesthesiologists of Sri Lanka conducts its 20th Annual Scientific Sessions from January 20 to 26. In order to maintain internationally recognised standards of anaesthetic practice the College conducted several courses for post graduate examinations in conjunction with examiners from overseas colleges. As a member of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists, the College has had the privilege of eminent anaesthetists such as the President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists of England gracing the academic events. The Chief Guest will be Dr. Peter Simpson President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists while Dr. Douglas Wilkinson will be the guest of honour. The theme of this year's scientific Sessions is trauma and Critical Care - The 21st Century Perspective. A number of distinguished anaesthetists and other experts in related fields of medicine from UK, India, Hong Kong, Nepal, Pakistan and Australia will participate and make valuable contribution. The membership of the College stands at hundred and fifty. With the active participation of this membership and the enthusiasm of its President Dr. Shirani Hapuarachchi the 20th Scientific Sessions of the College will be one of academic distinctions dedicated to dissemination of knowledge and practical expertise of this rapidly developing speciality. The importance of clinical acuity and the availability of advanced technology will be highlighted during these sessions which will deal with a range of subjects. |
