President felicitates Malwatte Mahanayaka Thera on 87th Birth Anniversary

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga,in a message of felicitation to the Most Venerable Rambukwelle Sri Dharmarakshitha Vipassi Mahanayaka Thera of the Malwatte Chapter of Shyamopali Maha Nikaya on his 87th Birth Anniversary wished the Mahanayaka Thera strength, courage and health to continue his valuable service to the Buddha Sasana for many more years to come.

"I take this opportunity to convey my respectful veneration and well wishes to the Most Ven. Rambukwelle Sri Vipassi Mahanayake Thera, on the occasion of his 87th Birth Anniversary.

I remember with deep respect the Venerable Maha Nayaka Thera's immense service to foster and perpetuate the Sasana, by holding the supreme position of being the Maha Nayaka of the Malwatte Chapter of the Shyamopali Mahanikaya. Your service to uplift the country, its people and their culture and your endeavour to protect the Sacred Tooth Relic, the lotus that adorns the crown of our nation are factors of great delight for all of us.

I am deeply appreciative of your advice and guidance which I always follow with humility and respect whether they involve problems pertaining to society or the nation. May the Venerable Maha Nayaka Thera be blessed with courage, strength and good health to continue his valuable services to the Sambuddha Sasana for many more years to come" wished the President in her message.
