Sanyo Corporation Japan's Assistant Manager Asia Region Ms. K. Nomura said that the company saw great potential in Sri Lanka as a fast developing and growing market in the South East Asian region.

"Sanyo products, with their superior Japanese technology and speedy after- sales service have been enjoying a very large share of the world's consumer patronage over the years. Sri Lankan customers, have for example been patronising Sanyo products for nearly three decades".

Nomura was speaking at a media conference at the Trans Asia Hotel to mark the re-launch of Sanyo home appliances, audio-visual equipment and air conditioners in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with Joan Arc (Pvt) Ltd.

Associated with Nomura at the media conference were Chairman Joan Arc (Pvt) Ltd. K. Kumaranayagam, Managing Director K.P. Balanayagam, Director N. Ganesan, Director (Administration), R. Prasanna Kumar and Marketing Director Russell Juriansz.

Chairman Joan Arc (Pvt) Ltd. Kumaranayagam said that the company was privileged to be appointed sole dealers for Sanyo home appliances, audio-visual equipment and air conditioners in Sri Lanka.

He said that its experience of more than two decades in business would help in further promoting and popularising Sanyo products among Sri Lankan consumers.

Marketing Director Russell Juriansz said that since its official appointment towards the end of last year, Joan Arc Pvt Ltd. has already appointed over 50 dealers islandwide and is in the process of establishing several modern Sanyo branded showrooms with service centres in Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Kalutara, Jaffna and Badulla.

"More such showrooms with service centres are in the pipeline and will be opened during the year.

"Supporting this sales pitch will also be a large number of franchise dealers in many towns around the country", he said.

Juriansz said that all personnel of the service departments have been specially trained and geared to attend to customer complaints with speed and efficiency.

He said that Joan Arc's commitment to the fair trading was amply reflected in its after sales service.
