Strategy to rejuvenate national economy -Dr. Amunugama Dr. Sarath Amunugama MP, People's Alliance said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has strategically focused to rejuvenate the national economy of Sri Lanka sans indiscriminate privatisation. "We will energise the national economy while giving due recognition to national workers and industrialists to develop our country. "Our economic policies are a balanced methodology adopted taking into consideration the global and national economy", he said. Allaying fears that slfp-JVP MoU will have a negative impact on the national economy, he said the two parties unanimously agreed to open to modern technology and strategize national economic policies before the concept of globalisation." We will encourage foreign investments and set up modalities to attract them. "We recognise the need for the public and private sector joint effort to develop the national economy. But we will permit selling of national resources and indiscriminate privatization", he said. "Therefore genuine businessmen do not need to worry over the formation of SLFP-JVP MoU as the new alliance would give its full support to businessmen to continue their activities", Dr. Amunugama said. |
