| Enraged woman beats up UNP Councillor by Sanjaya Asela Maturata Kadugannawa Urban Council UNP Member S. K. Wijeratne (Ruwan) is said to have been attacked with an ekel broom by an enraged woman when he was hoisting black flags in Henawala protesting against the signing of the MoU between the SLFP and the JVP yesterday. At the time of the attack, the Urban Council member was allegedly employing the council's casual labourers to hoist black flags with the permission of the Kadugannawa Urban Council Chairman, sources said. The enraged woman assailant was said to have queried whether the residents were paying rates to the Urban Council to do these odd jobs. |
