ICASL offers Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Financial Administration

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), the country's premier national accountancy body, will conduct a Post Graduate Diploma course in Business and Financial Administration.

The program has been structured in association with the Cranfield University School of Management, UK.

It would fulfill part of the ICASL's mission of promoting and developing Accountancy expertise towards Resource Management, the Institute announced this week.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Financial Administration is conducted for members of ICASL, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA),graduates of recognised universities, members of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), members of the Institute of Chartered Engineers, Architects and Valuers, members of the Institute of Bankers, members of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK or the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, and attorneys-at-law.

The contents of this Diploma would include Management and Behavioural theories, Economic theories and policies, Business Mathematics, Quantitative Methods, Statistics and Management Information Systems, Commercial and Business Law including International Law, Contracts and Finance, Business Finance and Management, Marketing Strategies and Consumer Behaviour, Corporate and Strategic planning and leadership.

"The Management Development Centre of ICASL endeavours to enable Sri Lankan professionals to meet the challenges of the continuously changing needs of the business environment, and this post graduate diploma in business and financial administration will help them to excel," said Lakshman Perera, Secretary/Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

"This course would also enable executives in the public and the private sectors, senior government and Provincial Council officers and other professionals to develop a broad perspective of their role in a developing economy and to equip them with the necessary knowledge and expertise to maximise their participation in business, financial trading and commercial activities. Holders of the Post Graduate Diploma are exempted from four out of the twelve subjects of the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) MBA program facilitated by ICASL," he added.

The Diploma course will commence in March 2004, and will continue for one year, with lectures at the ICASL during weekdays after office hours and on Sunday mornings.

Applications for the program will close on January 31. The course will cover a period of 400 lecture hours.
