Mine detection dogs from US Americans eager to accelerate demining in the North and East have donated six high priced mine detection dogs, each valued at Rs. two million. The six dogs valued in USA at $ 120,000 was a donation from a contribution from corporate and private US donors. US Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Lincoln Bloomfield (Jr) said the dogs would accelerate the rate to demine areas in Sri Lanka that can be identified demarcated and double checked to ensure deadly persistent landmines. The assistant Secretary thanked the Marshall Legacy Institute for its role in inspiring US businesses, Sri Lankan expatriates, schoolchildren and others to contribute funds for the purchase of the dogs. |
