The Sub Committee for Ampara will operate from the Ampara District Secretariat and the Sub Committee in Trincomalee will operate from the Governor's Secretariat in Trincomalee. These committees are mandated to receive representations from the public and monitor the situation in the area on a regular basis and make recommendations to the relevant government and other authorities about action to be taken to safeguard peace, harmony and social stability among the members of various communities to prevent any recurrence of incidents leading to communal disharmony.
